Starless Dreams

Ask the rain to sink down into dreams
to hulls and bows of ships
forgotten
behind curtains of thunder
beaded with lightning perls:
drumming down on sunken chests
heaving with melodic gusts
in hollow seas and sleeping caves
all the water, all the waves:
rippling across goosebump skin
cold from tired, sleepless nights
under starless skies closed
no compass signs
lost, by choice, to tides of clouds
you turn into
driftwood
